My husband and I have been eating McDougall style for 6 weeks. He’s lost 12 lbs, and I’ve lost 9, and were feeling better. I made a cashew “parmesan cheese” to sprinkle over pasta and we both got nauseated. Do you incorporate any nuts into the diet eventually?
Is there any possibility the nuts were rancid? I’ve found that if I eat nuts that are not fresh, they can make me feel sick as well. I now buy smaller quantities and keep them refrigerated. Oh, and ALWAYS smell nuts and seeds before I use them…they can get pretty nasty. Also, have you tried Nutritional Yeast for sprinkling over pasta? Many brands are fortified and a single serving provides plenty of B12 (which I hope you’re including in your diet…all the plant based docs warn about not getting B12, even for meat eaters these days).
