5.33 Lifestyle Intervention and Counseling
The guidelines also include:
- Recommending a “comprehensive lifestyle program”
- Low calorie diet
- Increased physical activity – aerobic activity for > 150 minutes per week or 30 minutes per day, most days of the week
- Behavioral counseling
- Prescribe in person counseling by a trained interventionist
- Option of an electronically delivered weight loss programs that include feedback personalized feedback
- Advise a comprehensive (> 1 year) weight loss maintenance program that includes at least monthly contact
- Monitor weight regularly
