2.65 MD – Fish or Shellfish

The Mediterranean Diet allows only 2-3 servings of fish or shellfish per week. Many people think that the Mediterranean Diet has a lot of fish in it such as one serving daily, but this is not true…only 2-3 servings per week.

One serving is about 3 oz or about the size of a deck of playing cards (somewhat small). Be sure to avoid fried fish or fried shellfish as this adds saturated fats and more calories. Choose fish high in omega-3 fatty acids such as salmon, trout or herring.
